Croatia Open, Umag Prize Money
2023 Breakdown & Historicals
Sitting on the northwest corner of the Istrian peninsula, Umag is a beautiful coastal city that’s home to the Croatia Open, an ATP 250 tennis tournament that runs annually in July. The event’s prize money for 2023 is €562,815, equating to $622,538 and £485,722.
Previously the Yugoslavia Open, when it first started in 1990, the clay court tournament transitioned to the Croatia Open in 1992, and it remains the country’s oldest tennis event. The ITC Stella Maris tennis center court is named after Goran IvaniÅ¡ević.
This year, the tournament will reward the singles champion with €85,605, while the runner-up will take home €49,940. These figures represent 5.3% increases in prize money over the prior year.
The doubles champions will earn €29,740 for their efforts, while the runner-up pair will make nearly half of that at €15,910, which is also a 5.3% increase respectively.

2023 Full Breakdown
The Croatia Open holds a singles and doubles event, with 80% of prize money going to the former and 20% to the latter. A typical split for ATP tournaments worldwide.
In the following tables, I break prize money down further by round, where a player’s earnings increase as the tournament progresses. You can scroll left or right to view historical data.
I’ve also converted prize money to US dollars and Sterling Pound, which I calculate using the prior year’s exchange rate on the day of the final for a close approximation of value.

Prize Money by Year
Every year, prize money changes at the Croatia Open. Although many fans expect it to go up yearly, it drops periodically. For example, in 2021, prize money dropped 20% due to the pandemic and limited crowd capacity to help keep fans at a safe distance from each other.
Ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise, and concessions represent the lion’s share of the tournament’s revenue. In a year like 2021, when ticket sales dropped, it’s not surprising that prize money declined accordingly.
The following table outlines the yearly prize money offered at the Croatia Open since 2000, which has seen several increases in recent years leading up to the pandemic.
