Open Occitanie, Montpellier Prize Money
2025 Breakdown & Historicals
Hosted annually at the Sud de France Arena in the Montpellier suburb of Pérols in the South of France, the Open Occitanie, previously called the Open Sud de France, is an ATP 250 series tennis tournament contested on hard courts.
The tournament started in 1987 and ran for 23 years under the name Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon before moving to Montpellier in 2010. It continues to host 28 players in singles and 16 teams in doubles.
Since the move to Montpellier, French tennis players have had a dominant run at the tournament, winning eight of the first ten editions, including three wins by Richard Gasquet and Gaël Monfils. However, they’ve experienced a bit of a dry spell in recent years, with no titles for Frenchmen since 2020.
In 2025, the prize money at the Open Occitaine reaches a five-year high of €581,140, translating to $606,245 or £487,683, for a 2.89% increase from last year.
In singles, the champion will receive €90,680, or 15% of the total prize money, while the runner-up will pocket €52,890. Each represents a 2.9% increase over the prior year.
On the doubles side, the winning team will split €31,530, while their competitors will share €16,940 for their efforts. Like singles, these prizes had a respectable 3% increase compared to last year.
The following sections of this guide provide a detailed overview and breakdown of prize money at the Open Occitanie, including historical data for reference and quick comparison.
Full Breakdown
At a high level, organizers distribute prize money at the Open Occitaine by event. Eighty percent of proceeds go to the larger singles draw, and the remaining twenty percent funds doubles.
However, to gain a sense of individual player and team earnings, we can drill down further and dissect prize money by round, where players earn more the further they progress through the tournament.
The following tables summarize this data from 2010 when the tournament started operating in Montpellier. For quick reference, I’ve included conversions of prize money to US dollars and sterling pounds, which I calculate using the prior year’s exchange rate on the day of the final for a close approximation of value.

Prize Money by Year
Every year, organizers at the Open Occitanie set prize money based on the tournament’s prior performance and revenues.
Although they always strive to increase prize money, it sometimes flatlines or drops. Various factors, including ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise, and concessions, influence success in a given year. For example, the pandemic and fan restrictions resulted in a 31% drop in 2021.
